Another Project? You're Kidding!

I can't believe that I'm considering knitting another project. I have the other mitten OTNs and I'm still knitting helmet liners for the troops. I have at least 3-4 projects all set to go in bags waiting. So what do I do?

I took my favorite socks from my drawer and am trying to duplicate them. The basic pattern is
• K1, P1 rib for 1/2".
• K4, P2 ribbing of 8" circumference for 5-5 1/2". This stretches to a 14" calf. (Believe me - it stretches that much!)
• Now do a short row heel (have to learn that technique). Anyone have a website with instructions?
• For the foot, knit the rib pattern on top and stockinette on the bottom half. Knit the foot for 5 1/2".
• Finish with the the toe decreases for 1 1/2". Finish with Kitchner stitch.
Well, that's the basics. and I'll figure out the specifics as I go and post it on here.
