I’m still making helmet liners and neck warmers.

OTN -- black neck warmer for my coworker. I’m almost done and then I can start another helmet liner.

I'm Waiting to start another helmet liner for my friend’s son. He just finished AIT and going to Turkey. I’m waiting on a friend of mine to tell me what color he needs. Some units are real particular whereas some say any of the usual colors is ok. The usual colors are tan, khaki, olive, dark brown, black. When I find out the color I’ll just squeeze in his helmet liner in between my other projects.

Thing is that I only have 2 Addi #6. I can’t use the Denise needles since they are a little bigger than the Addi’s. I may end up buying another #6 16” circular so I can have a couple of these things OTN at the same time. That way if I get another special order, I can start it right away.

I was just thinking how much I hate doing the ribbing… ;-) The pattern says to knit 5” of 2x2 ribbing before starting the hat portion in stockinette. Funny that I get so excited just making a hat.

A Prayer for Veterans Day

Our God and God of our ancestors: We ask Your blessings for our
country--for its government, for its leaders and advisors, and for all those who have fought and continue to fight to defend our freedoms and our lives. Teach them insights from Your Torah, that they may administer their work fairly, that peace and security, happiness and prosperity, justice and freedom may forever abide in our midst.

May this land, under Your providence, be an influence for good
throughout the world, uniting all people in peace and freedom--helping them to fulfill the vision of Your prophet: "Nation shall not lift up sword against nation, neither shall they experience war anymore."
Amen.

Onward and Upward

Blind knitting

I’ve been practicing knitting and not looking. I found that I can do it pretty well with the knit stitch in the round. I can feel the stitches. The purl is a different story. I guess I need a little more practice on that one. I want to learn so I can knit and talk to my friends. I hate going to knitting meet up and can't knit because I'm listening. I never get anything done. The other reason is that while I'm watching soaps, etc. I want to be able to knit and actually look at the TV. Talk about doing something useful. We'll see how it goes in time. …

Black neck warmer for coworker

It's fun to get something done. I love the charity project I found. Knitting helmet liners for the troops is my type of project. They don’t take a lot of time and look nice when done. I’ll mail this package tomorrow and start the next one. They are requesting black for the Marines who lost their barricks. It’s hard to knit but that is the color they need. My Ott light is getting a lot of use.

I also made a neck warmer to help on the cold day. Of course, now my coworker wants one so of course, I'll make one for her. I asked John DH and he said he doesn't want one...his loss.

Those are just ribbing and stockinette in the round. No brainers so to speak. Now for something to test the brain:

Now I'm going to try making blue mittens to go with my neck warmer and coat. I usually wear just plain old black thermal gloves and wonder if the double mittens would be good. You know the kind with the fingerless gloves. I just can't figure out how the bear finger tips is any good when it's so darn cold outside. OHH I just thought of something--counting all the lottery winners at the party store when you turn in the lotto tickets :-)
